Box Office Hit ‘The First Ride’ Meets Korean Audiences via VOD

The movie ‘The First Ride,’ which drew attention for the cheerful chemistry between its actors, began concurrent theatrical IPTV and Cable TV VOD services on the 4th in South Korea.

The movie is now meeting audiences through various online and mobile platforms, including IPTV (Genie TV, Btv, U+tv), Digital Cable TV (Home Choice), OTT (U+ Mobile TV, Wavve, Apple TV, Coupang Play, Watcha, Google TV, YouTube, etc.), Satellite Broadcasting (Skylife), and Webhard.
‘The First Ride’ is a comedy about childhood best friends leaving for their first overseas trip together, featuring the relentless Taejung (Kang Haneul), the bright and sunny Dojin (Kim Youngkwang), the handsome Yeonmin (Cha Eunwoo), Geumbok (Kang Youngseok) who sleeps with his eyes open, and the lovely Oksim (Han Sunhwa). The movie proved its box office power by recording No. 1 at the overall box office for 7 consecutive days immediately after its release.
In particular, it was loved as a "trustworthy and funny" comedy movie thanks to the tight-knit chemistry of the leading actors. It gathered anticipation even before release due to the reunion of director Nam Daejung (‘30 Days’) and Kang Haneul, and delivered laughter with a fresh casting combination including Kim Youngkwang, Cha Eunwoo, Kang Youngseok, and Han Sunhwa. Furthermore, top-tier scene-stealers such as Choi Gwihwa, Go Kyupil, Yoon Kyungho, and Kang Jiyoung also played active roles, filling the movie with abundant laughter.
